A lover, a roughly adequate child, a loyal friend, a polite stranger. Born to principled parents, I was brought up to be a dissident. I pursued philosophy in my younger years, which further exacerbated my rigidity. I romanticize freedom and justice, and am an inconsistent cypherpunk. I like libertarianism but am not quite a Libertarian (capital-L). Over the last decade I have had some opportunities to learn that being a person requires a level of compartmentalization, that intellectual honesty alone doesn't pay the bills-- and I want to pay the bills and then some. And so I finally identify as a recovering philosophical pedant and aspiring pragmatist. In these parts of the internet, you might find me clumsily finding my way to a successful outlook, and perhaps you would walk alongside me for a while.
I grew up and live on the internet. I am old enough to remember the world wide web as a place less emotionally incendiary; it was a cozy corner to retreat to. Now it is something else that I don't really understand. For reasons big and small I am afraid to be honest online but this page provides a little shield to hide behind. A flattened culture has less room for the opinionated.
I have a profound love for hippies and music, and am partial to all things remotely related to Jerry Garcia; other than these things I develop obsessive fixations that I qucikly abandon, which I attribute to a boundless curiosity and the scarce nature of time. I work in tech.☮︎
